Nikon AF-S Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED VR review

Nikon's range-topping macro lens the AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED is the first macro-lens that supported image-stabilization that we're all familair with today. Compatibility wise its a winner at just about these features for the full-frame FX and cropped-frame DX-format bodies, and expect it to autofocus on just about any Nikon DSLR since it belongs to the AF-S model series.
Considering that its been around since 2006, the AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED is one of the six macro-lenses that Nikon currently pushes to its avid consumers. It's the second longest and second most expensive Micro-Nikkor after the AF Micro-Nikkor 200mm f/4D IF-ED, but has a more contemporary lens with AF-S focusing and VR, not to mention a brighter aperture and more practical focal length, it's arguably the best overall macro lens in the range.
